The Kudamatsu City Center for Stock Enhancement promotes the fishery industry through farming fry. It has worked on breeding the Kasado Hirame (flounder) and Kasado Torafugu (tiger puffer), some of Kudamatsu’s best-known tourism resources.
In February 2020, a new farm building covering about 6,225 m2 was constructed. The Center includes facilities such as a breeding building for raising fry from eggs and a touch pool where visitors can interact with fish.
This is the largest touch pool in Japan, containing around 20 species of fish that can be caught in Kasado Bay which visitors can actually touch. Visitors can also enjoy feeding the flounders bred by the Center. The flounders aiming for their food present a dramatic sight.
